Session Information

The 2021 IBC and changes to allow for design and construction of tall wood buildings, including glimpse of future 2024 IBC, will be the focus of this educational session. The first half of the meeting will be led by WoodWorks and Code Red. The second half will transition to an open forum for discussion. Through this, we will have the opportunity to delve deeper into code changes and understand these implications from both a national and regional perspective.

A follow-up working session will take place in May where we will meet with City of Boston staff to discuss how to navigate and prepare for the adoption of the 2021 IBC.

This will be an in-person session with virtual accommodations available. Coffee and pastries will be provided.

Presenters:
Marc Rivard, WoodWorks
Ricky McLain, WoodWorks
Brian Kuhn Jr. PE, Code Red

About

The BSA Mass Timber Working Group was created in Fall 2021 following conversations with members and partners during the launch of the Mass Timber Accelerator with the City of Boston. The group currently meets monthly to share, discuss, and network around recent Mass Timber developments, from species certifications and supply chains to building codes and project case studies. All individuals committed to advancing mass timber as a building material are welcome.
