Join us for a conversation with Greg Minott AIA, LEED AP of DREAM Collaborative and Reggie Jean of Haley House to explore how architects, developers, and grassroots advocates can work together to shape urban spaces that reflect the needs and aspirations of local communities. The discussion will center on 2147 Washington Street in Nubian Square, a transformative development designed to support artistry, entrepreneurship, and cultural preservation (currently under construction). Anchored by the reimagined Haley House Bakery Café, the project also features artist-centered spaces, affordable housing, and sustainable Passive House design—all aimed at fostering cultural and economic sustainability while preventing displacement.
This conversation will delve into approaches to leveraging public land for public good, highlighting the sustained efforts of Roxbury’s organizers and advocates as key partners in process. Projects like 2147 Washington Street provide a model for how urban spaces can be thoughtfully designed through deep collaboration and relationship building with local stakeholders, redefining not only who shapes the city, but also how neighborhoods evolve to reflect the identities and aspirations of their residents.
