The Project Architect/Job Captain leads the project coordination with the consultant team, provides drafting support for the preparation of project documents, coordinates with the production team for design and production, and communicates with internal and external team members. This individual is also responsible for coordinating the drafting required for bidding purposes as well as construction.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Responsible for design, scheduling and coordinating of detailed phases of complex projects, including the staffing
- Involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of items for investigation and development of novel concepts and methods
- Estimates fees, determine scope of work and prepares proposals and contracts on the most complex projects
- Develops work plans to coincide milestones of a project and revisions when work plans need to be addressed
- Serves as the primary liaison content with clients to complete projects on schedule within budget and with maximum client satisfaction
- Interacts with a project team and client to communicate the results of analysis and describe design concepts
- Actively manages client budgets, schedules and programs
- Possesses broad knowledge of fundamentals in specialty areas and good knowledge of principles and practices in related specialties
- Familiar with the company’s and client’s methods, standards, practices and procedures
- May assist or involved in the technical scope proposal development
- Completes field assignments, when appropriate
- May complete sections of permits
- Leads and mentors more junior Architects

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture required, Master’s degree preferred
- Registered Architect license required
- Minimum of 8 years of Commercial, Municipal, and Education project experience required
- Has a strong working knowledge of submittals, RFIs and Change Orders
- Solid self-starter, proactive, a creative thinker and independent problem solver
- Thorough knowledge of architectural modeling, detailing, building materials, building codes and construction
- Thorough understanding of the existing building code for development of code summaries and building components
- Comfortable and adept at working on multiple fast paced projects
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills required
- Excellent communication skills, is highly organized and has acute attention to detail while maintaining thoroughness and accuracy
- Strong ability to work and lead in a team environment
- Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision required
- Familiar with QA/QC procedures and understands basic business practices and laws related to architecture
- Writing, graphic, and verbal presentation skills are required, as are basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Computer graphic skills such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator are required
