Behind every high performance project is a high performance façade. Designing an envelope that carefully manages solar heat gain and loss while enhancing the occupant experience and providing adequate connections to the outside can get tricky in a Northeast climates. Do all projects need to comply with 40% window-to-wall ratio? Is a low-e coating helpful in the summer, the winter, or both? Is exterior shading always the right answer?
