Join the BSA for an open conversation and community workshop as we unpack the 2020 discussions in order to better position ourselves for intentional and meaningful 2021 impact. The mission of Race & Architecture is to examine the conditions of inequity within our society and profession, and to demonstrate how architecture and design can make an impact through education, practice, and community.
The ongoing injustices and inequities within the public realm in 2020 inspired the nation and many within our profession to individually question their purpose as practitioners. Race & Architecture provides a platform for collective thinking to address these ongoing challenges. While 2020 sessions provided a listening series, the continuation in 2021 will focus on the actions and advocacy we can take as an industry, as leaders, and as individuals.
The 2021 action plan will respond to needs that were identified by the participants of the listening series as gaps in the profession’s response to inequity. This event will be a brainstorming session to determine measurable objectives for the 2021 Race and Architecture initiative under three areas of focus gaps:
- EDUCATION: Expand accessible pathways for licensure
- PROFESSION: Dramatically increase diversity and representation in the profession
- COMMUNITY: Narrow racial wealth inequality and environmental inequity
Come prepared to share your ideas, ask questions, and participate in what will be an engaging workshop as we make an impact in 2021.
