We are joined this month by Jennifer Robinson of Historic New England who will address old house “Do’s and Don’ts”. As residential architects in the New England region, we will likely work at some point in our careers with clients who have an old home that needs a little TLC. Jennifer will guide us through some basic principles when working with an old home and a client who wants to preserve or bring back the structure’s character. Jennifer will answer questions like “When approaching a project with a historic house, how does one decide what is important to save? She will help us understand how houses evolve through the years and offer suggestions about how to think about preservation v. rehabilitation. Time will be spent reviewing a list of finishes that need careful thought and consideration, such as paint, windows, carpentry, and masonry.
