Chart House Urban Pedestal
By Leonardi Aray Architects with Anne McKinnon, Jeffrey Ferris & Diva DeOliveira
The Chart House restaurant is the oldest structure on Long Wharf, dating to 1763. A "belt and suspenders" approach was needed to protect this building from sea-level rise. We built a pedestal to honor the Chart House and raised the sea wall with walking path atop to protect it from rising waters. Today, water comes close to the front door during King Tides.
